Madrid Microchipping & Registration

All dogs in Madrid must be properly identified and registered: **Microchip:** Mandatory for all dogs over 3 months. ISO-standard chip (15 digits). Any vet can do this (~€20-30). **Registration:** Must register with the Registro de Animales de Compañía de la Comunidad de Madrid (RIAC). Done at your vet or town hall. **ID Tags:** Though not legally required, a collar tag with your phone number is highly recommended. **Lost Dogs:** A microchipped dog can be identified at any vet or animal control. Register your phone number with the chip database. **Travelling:** For EU travel, you'll need a pet passport linked to your microchip number.
