While avocado is primarily dangerous for birds, rabbits, and horses, the pit, skin, and leaves can cause problems for dogs. The pit is also a serious choking and obstruction hazard. The flesh is less toxic but can cause stomach upset.

If your dog ate the pit, contact your vet immediately due to obstruction risk. For small amounts of flesh, monitor for stomach upset.
