Small amounts of fresh mint are safe but oils and some varieties are not.

Fresh peppermint and spearmint leaves in small amounts are safe. However, English pennyroyal mint is toxic. Mint essential oils are toxic. Too much mint can cause digestive upset.

  • vomiting
  • diarrhea from large amounts
